Mommies backlash against Motrin’s anti-baby-wearing ad

Posted by: x10 In: Marketing

Motrin seems to have really missed the mark with this commercial. It was designed to innocently poke fun at the aches and pains that mothers experience. Instead, it’s instigated a fury of angry conversation between disgusted moms.

Before the “age of social media” this commercial would have been just as offensive, but now mothers have a united voice online. Women allover have bonded together and expressed their disgust with this ad.

How do you think Motrin should respond to this conversation? Do you think their message (taken from motrin.com) is sufficient?

I had heard of the uproar but hadn’t seen the original advertisement. Now that I have seen it – I can fully understand the outrage.

It’s an insult to mom’s everywhere and its like teasing a solider for making a fashion statement when they have to carry a gun into battle. Not only is carrying a baby not a fashion statement. Its a time honored action – done with love only a mom can understand. And dad’s – too. I’ve carried my baby a certain way even with mind numbing back pain. And when a company mocks that it’s insulting.
